Truly Tis The Season
“We make a living by what we get
We make a life by what we give.”
“It is not how much we give
but how much love
we put into giving.”
Jack frost is lingering in the air my Christmas tree is lit and oh so beautiful. There truly is something magical about this time of year. With the incessant darkness and bitter cold, I still find myself enjoying every chilly moment.
The bright twinkling lights, the ever so familiar sounds of Christmas songs. The smiles on my childrens faces each morning when they wake up searching for their favorite Christmas elf. Do you know of this elf I speak of?
For those of you who are not familiar with this lovely little addition to our family, she is the “Elf On The Shelf.” This is the Bond family’s third christmas with what would you guess her elf name to be?
Tootee Sparkles! Yes this is pretty much the best name ever! June named her when she was three, her name is just as amazing today as it was three years ago. Every time I hear mention of Tootee a huge smile crosses my face.
Our little friend flies to the North Pole every night to report our children’s behavior to Santa. I will say from a parent’s perspective she is a friendly reminder for our children to be on their best behavior on these oh so fridge days when we would all prefer to be warm and indoors. These days do seem to be the days my children have a rougher time getting along and sharing.
It seems as much as my children love each other they love to argue, and test each other even more so. This is when Little Miss Tootee Sparkles comes into play.
I would say I enjoy our elf as much as my children do. Watching them search truly excited every morning is such an amazing experience. Children are truly enthusiastic they have so much passion and love for the small things in life. They are truly amazing creatures.
My nephews and nieces of course have elf’s of their own, cousins of course to Tootee. Their names are Rosie Blue and Baffy. All of the cousins love to exchange their latest elf news and whereabouts of their elfs and where they landed.
These traditions are the best memories I will have and which will carry on with our children from generation to generation. I never had an elf growing up, beginning this tradition with my children is even more exciting. Change is good!
We all should truly tis this holiday season! Dust off all of your holiday stressors, don’t let money, time, people get in your way of enjoying what is directly in front of you.
Be merry, laugh , be happy, break and make new traditions. Find a christmas elf who will bring your entire family happiness, bake cookies, drink eggnog, adult drinks, amazing food. Do everything you envisioned yourself doing this time of year. Live in the moment, we all deserve it and so do our children. Until next time friends!
