Little Red Riding Hood

Hello friends and Happy Thanksgiving to all! We all should give thanks for our amazing lives, let us take the time today to write down ten things we are grateful for.

With that said my grateful friends I am  putting myself out there again and I  am entering an illustration contest surrounding The Grimm Brothers version of LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD. Here is the excerpt for the contest.

Once upon a time there was a little girl who was so sweet and kind that everyone loved her. Her grandmother, who loved her more than anyone, gave her a little cap made of red velvet, which suited her so well that she wanted to wear it all the time. Because of that everyone took to calling her Little Red Riding Hood.

One day her mother said to her: ‘Little Red Riding Hood, I’ve got a job for you. Your grandmother isn’t very well, and I want you to take her this cake and a bottle of wine. They’ll make her feel a lot better. You be polite when you go into her house, and give her a kiss from me. Be careful on the way there, and don’t step off the path or you might trip over and break the bottle and drop the cake, and then there’d be nothing for her. When you go into her parlour don’t forget to say, “Good morning, Granny,” and don’t go peering in all the corners.’

‘I’ll do everything right, don’t worry,’ said Little Red Riding Hood, and kissed her mother goodbye.

Her grandmother lived in the woods, about half an hour’s walk away. When Little Red Riding Hood had only been walking a few minutes, a wolf came up to her. She didn’t know what a wicked animal he was, so she wasn’t afraid of him.

I hope you enjoy my version of Little Red Riding Hood, I recreated her and the wicked wolf. I put a lot of love and thought into this, wish me luck! Happy Thanksgiving to all! Until next time friends!

Hello Friends!

How is your book coming along? I am plugging away, and am rather enjoying the time I am creating for  November novel challenge! Keep up the good work, we can do it together!

In these dark mornings and even darker nights if you find yourself anything like me. You may find yourself wanting to stay in. Wanting to sleep a little more, less motivated to do, more motivated to eat comfort food. The days are short and the nights are long. We all need to keep our lights shining from with in. Keep doing what you always do, let us all use these cold and dark times to utilize different aspects of ourselves. Other than the darkness what else is on that brilliant mind of yours? What do you love to do inside or yes even outside on these cold days? What are you thinking about everyday, most likely it is rolling around and back and fourth day to day. What inspires you mostly what makes you happy?

These times are great for reading, writing, making art, listening to soulful inspiring music, catching up on old movies, cooking, baking. Instead of letting the seasonal depression reign and pull us down, let us be inspired from these dark mornings and evenings. Use your imagination, dig deep down and do some soul searching. We can all benefit from these times, our time is now.

So get warm, cozy up, and tap into your intelligent, brilliant mind, and find yourself in a whole new way. Reinvent yourself, search a little more. We mustn’t hide from the darkness, we must be the light that shines a new path, even better a new beginning to a better you. A tribute song I sing to my children every night, from me to you : )

“This little light of mine

I’m gonna let it shine.

This little light of mine

I’m gonna let it shine.

Let it shine. Let it shine. Let it shine!

All down the road

I’m gonna let it shine.

All down the road

I’m gonna let it shine.

Let it shine! LET IT SHINE! LET IT SHINE!”

Shine brighter and warmer every day! Until next time friends! : )

Hello Friends!

Have you ever pondered writing a book? Have the thoughts ever came and escaped from your mind from one time to the next? Well this month is your chance to finally do it! November is National Novel writing month for all writers, aspiring writers, or even people who want to free some thoughts from their busy minds! I know we are a few days into the month, but better late than never! The official challenge is to write a 50,000 word novel in one month! Pretty intense, I know we can do it! If you are new to this as most of us may be, we can lessen our word count. Start with 30,000 words and see where it takes you.

My challenge to you is to dedicate at least thirty minutes per day to writing. The hopes of this thirty minutes is getting ourselves inspired and the thirty may turn into an hour and an amazing feel good new found hobby.

Let’s get started! Think to yourself what you have always wanted to write about? Every great book starts with one idea, only one.

Have you always wanted to write a silly chapter book for your children to read? Maybe a book for pre teen children to read? I know I read the Twilight series years ago and loved every minute of it! Or maybe you are a daydreamer with an amazing story to share. Choose the age group you would like to write for. If none of these sound appealing to you, you could write something only for yourself to read.  You can create a journal/memoir type novel about your life stories. Making you love your life stories! ( I had to throw that one in there. : ))

In this challenge we are not to go back and edit our work. Let your mind go free from page to page. Write your heart out! If you find yourself in a writers block like state, stop what you are doing. Move your body around, do some jumping jacks, take a quick walk outside, make a coffee drink, a tea, have a healthy snack and try again. I find standing when I write to be much more productive for me! So boost up your laptop on the kitchen counter, something high enough so you are not straining yourself. Or cozy up on the couch, go to the library, a great coffee shop, find a lovely quite place you feel comfortable at and start writing!

Let’s get our creative juices flowing, and accept this challenge! This is a great opportunity to free our minds and make something memorable for ourselves, our loved ones, and who knows the possibilities? Even the new next big time novel!

Use your imagination, free your mind. I know you can do it! Ready set write!Until next time friends!
